“There is a story in all my paintings.”  Artist Lucy Dickens

Artist Lucy Dickens.

Local artist Lucy Dickens says, “I paint landscapes predominantly because I’m drawn to moments that take my breath away. It’s those moments of beauty that cause me to feel, to reflect, and to give thanks.”

Through her paintings and a written “story” that further enriches each painting, Dickens seeks to share the essense of what she saw, where she saw it and the subtle and not-so-subtle emotions that she felt in those moments that took her “breath away.” She puts it simply, “There is a story in all my paintings. I am a fine arts storyteller.”

“I most enjoy painting in a series from my travels bringing the viewer along for the journey.” Growing up, Dickens camped and hiked the back country of Arizona and the greater Southwest with her paents. Since then she has travelled to beautiful places abroad. She knows there is a treasure trove of inspirational scenes and special moments to capture right here, at home, in Arizona. “I’ve dedicated my life to capturing this God given beauty on canvas,” said Dickens.
