The desert foothills is rich with unusual wildlife, like the Harris hawks pictured here. The cool desert nights are alive with native inhabitants of every description.

In 1997, the Scenic Drive exhibit area was enhanced by the addition of exhibits that provided information about local history, climate, flora, and fauna. Artists Judy Conklin and Marg Nelssen contributed drawings of fauna and flora, respectively, that were used to create the exhibits.

That same year, the drawings and descriptions of fauna used for the new exhibit were also used to enhance “Jane’s Critter List” on the Scenic Drive’s website that had been developed three years earlier.   To enjoy Judy’s drawing and Jane’s list, select the link below.
