A Peek at the Peak (The Peak) Receives Best of Scottsdale Award for Third Consecutive Year

Serving the Community for 35 Years

What better way to celebrate The Peak’s 35th birthday than to announce a special honor. The Greater Pinnacle Peak Association’s A Peek at the Peak magazine (The Peak) has recieved a Best of Scottsdale Award for the third consutive year. The annual award is made by the Scottsdale Award Program.

Each year, the Scottsdale Award Program identifies organizations that it believes have achieved exceptional success in their local community. These are local companies and organizations that enhance the positive image of the community and help make the Scottsdale area a great place to live, work and play.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in the vaious categories. The 2019 Scottsdale Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Scottsdale Award Program and data provided by third parties.

About The Peak

In January 2019 The Peak celebrated its’ 35th birthday. The Peak is a trusted, popular tradition that showcases local articles, community newsletters, photographs, videos, advertisements, blogs, announcements, and other engaging online content. The Peak helps to preserve and promote Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive, an area landmark since 1963.

The Peak, The Peak e-newsletter and social media publications are provided as a community service by the 501 c (3) Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA). GPPA was founded in 1977 in the Pinnacle Peak area of Scottsdale. The association is dedicated to the preservation of the environment and the enrichment of quality of life in the north Scottsdale Sonoran Desert. Friends of the Scenic Drive, a GPPA corps of volunteers, works to preserve and enhance Scottsdale’s Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, a local landmark since 1963. GPPA’s community activities and publications are funded by donations, memberships and advertising.

For the first four months of 2019, The Peak enjoyed an average of 9,914 visits per month, with a total of 39,656 visits. Readers consistently returned to The Peak, averaging 2.5 visits per month, per person. In April, the return average exceeded 3 visits per person.

From January through April, 719,613 pages of content were viewed with the average reader viewing more than 18 pages every time they visited The Peak. That’s important because advertisements appear on every page of The Peak, including the first page.

Fresh content attracts readers. The Peak is updated throughout the month. A new issue is published monthly. In addition, mid-month update issues are published every month.

GPPA receives no government funding. You can help us to continue our community efforts by volunteering, becoming a member, publishing an advertorial or advertisement or making a donation. The Scottsdale Award Program is an annual awards program honoring the achievements and accomplishments of local businesses and organizations throughout the Scottsdale area. Recognition is given to those that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value.

The Peak was originally printed and distributed in 1983 by the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) as a six-page neighborhood newsletter for the hundred or so residents who lived in the Pinnacle Peak area of Scottsdale, Arizona. Today, GPPA publishes an expanded online version for tens of thousands of readers as a free community service serving Scottsdale and neighborhing communities.
