If you’re thinking about doing a green remodel, consider this. Utility companies and the city offer rebates for a variety of services and products, including: heating/cooling equipment, duct repairs, insulation, programmable thermostats, lighting, shade screens, solar, shade trees, pool pumps, smart irrigation controllers, plumbing fixtures and more.
Scottsdale resident Phil Allsopp undertook a green remodel project. Since doing so, his summer utility bills dropped from more than $240 a month to about $20 a month. He keeps indoor temperatures at 75 degrees during the day and a cool 71 at night.
Not only is Allsopp saving money on an ongoing basis, he also was able to save money upfront by capturing various incentives for projects like installing solar power.
