Providing Words and Actions for the Environment, Quality of Life and Community Service Since 1977

Dear A Peek  at the Peak Reader,

Thank you for your support of A Peek at the Peak (The Peak) magazine, the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) and Friends of the Scenic Drive. Your support is important and very much appreciated.

Since 1977, GPPA has worked to preserve our community’s Sonoran environment and quality of life. By becoming a member of GPPA, you’ll be directly supporting our service efforts.

Support the Scenic Drive

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive. With your support, Friends of the Scenic Drive will continue to work with the City of Scottsdale to conduct roadside cleanups and undertake initiatives and advocacy to preserve and enhance this landmark.

You might recall that last year, an application to dev elop a large commercial self-storage facility was withdrawn because of the active opposition of Friends of the Scenic Drive and outraged residents. Urban sprawl is the bane of special places across America. The landmark Desert Foothills Scenic Drive has acted as a deterent to sprawl since it was established by far-sighted residents in 1963.

Our area has changed dramatically since GPPA printed 100 copies of The Peak in March 1983.  The Peak remains a local tradition – a nonprofit publication by and for the people who live here. Today’s online magazine provides more timely and richer content to a much larger audience than was possible in the past.  More importantly, The Peak bolsters GPPA’s ability to perform advocacy service and support other local nonprofit organizations, education, the City of Scottsdale and neighboring communities.

Please consider becoming a member today so that we can continue our communication, education, quality of life, and environmental initiatives, for our benefit and for the benefit of future generations.

By purchasing a tax-deductible annual membership, you will receive the following:

  • You will keep updated on current activities, events and meetings by a continuously updated “issue” of The Peak, an online, award-winning magazine filled with interesting local information and bi-monthly issues of The Peak Newsletter via e-mail.
  • You will be recognized as a supporter in the magazine and newsletter.
  • You will receive invitations to events sponsored by GPPA and a letter acknowledging your tax-deductible membershipOnline Membership.
