Is Light Rail N. Scottsdale's Bogeyman? - A Peek at the Peak Magazine

Is Light Rail N. Scottsdale’s Bogeyman?

lightrail_phoenix2Timing is everything, especially when it comes to catching a flight, flagging down a taxi, or finding a pedicab ride in downtown Scottsdale. Which leads me to the subject of light rail.

Bringing light rail to Scottsdale has been a subject of discussion in downtown Scottsdale for several years. There has even been talk of light rail someday careening  up Scottsdale Road through the Scenic Drive to connect downtown Scottsdale to Carefree.

In the upcoming September-October issue of A Peek at the Peak magazine, Bob Cappel, the president of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association, writes that light rail is one of the topics that will be covered by this blog in the coming months. I no sooner finished reading Bob’s article than I received an email from Scottsdale writer Jim McAllister announcing that he’d just posted an article about light rail. Timing really is everything!

So, without further delay, here is a link to Jim’s article, Is Light Rail Worth the Trouble? that is posted on the Republic’s Arizona Voices blog. I cannot think of a better way to jumpstart this discussion. Thanks, Jim, for allowing us to use your article.
