Golf Coach Receives Statewide Recognition

Cactus Shadows High School, in the Cave Creek Unified School District, is pleased to announce that CSHS’ Girls’ Golf Coach, Mark O’Bryan, has been named the 2017-18 National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) Section 7 Coach of the Year!

In an AZPREPS3645 article by Seth Plansky – it reads, “The NFHS has a contact in each state who is responsible for selecting deserving coach award recipients. This person often works with the state coaches’ association in his or her respective state.”

Tahdehl Collentine-MacLean, Cactus Shadows’ Athletic Director said, “We could not be more proud of Mark O’Bryan the Girls’ Golf Coach at Cactus Shadows High School being one of the 23 coaches from across the country  selected as the NFHS  Sectional Coach of the year. The time and effort he puts into building and developing his program and athletes does not go unnoticed. Coach O’Bryan has coached the Cactus Shadows Girls Golf team to three state titles.”

The NFHS is the national leadership organization for high school sports and performing arts activities. Since 1920, the NFHS has led the development of education-based interscholastic sports and performing arts activities that help students succeed in their lives.

Superintendent Burdick said, “Cactus Shadows High School and CCUSD are so fortunate to have an educator and coach like Mark O’Bryan.  He is an exemplar as a coach and teacher, and we congratulate him on his latest honor and accomplishment.”
