Scottsdale voters approve two bond questions, reject four others

Scottsdale voters approved two bond questions and rejected four in Tuesday’s Special Election. Ballot measures passed to fund pavement replacement on city streets and construction or reconstruction of four fire stations.  Voters rejected requests to fund parks, transportation, citywide technology and police projects.  Unofficial results do not include provisional ballots (ballots requiring additional verification) nor unverified early ballots. Get specific results at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “election results.”  With the successful passage of the two bond questions, the City Council will appoint seven Scottsdale residents to a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. This committee will receive reports about progress as the projects move forward, review proposed project changes, and provide comments and recommendations to the City Council. Residents interested in serving on the committee can submit an application next week at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “board vacancies.

Make the holidays brighter through “Scottsdale Shares” donation campaign

The Scottsdale Shares campaign returns this holiday season to make it easier for residents to get information about city charitable programs and how to make donations. The Scottsdale Shares campaign provides one point of contact for residents, businesses and organizations seeking to assist those in need through donations or volunteer activities. You can donate to these programs:

  • Scottsdale’s Adopt-A-Family Program
  • Scottsdale’s Adopt-A-Senior Program
  • Scottsdale Fire Department’s annual toy drive
  • Vista del Camino Food Bank
  • Scottsdale Cares, utility bill donation program

Various events are taking place to support Scottsdale holiday assistance programs. The remaining event includes:

  • Donate a toy and get a free engine ride. Children can ride free in a fire engine from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Target store, Loop 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. To participate, donate a new unwrapped gift for Scottsdale Fire’s annual holiday toy drive. Call 480-312-1817 for more information.
