8th Annual Rock the District Concert Set for Sat., Mar. 4th

The Cave Creek Unified Education Foundation is excited to present the 8th Annual Rock the District Concert. The concert will be held at Stagecoach Village in Cave Creek on Saturday March 4th, gates open at 5:00 P.M. and the concert will run from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Rock the District, in its 8th year and at a brand new venue, benefits the Cave Creek Unified Education Foundation a not for profit (501)C(3).

This year’s show is jam packed with 20 solo artists, duos, rock, pop, punk and country bands. In all there will be 53 performers hitting the stage. The Sonoran Trails Middle School choir will be joining their peers to showcase their vocal talents.

 

Returning Rock the District performers include Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding semifinalist, Halle Abadi, and finalist, Kailin Kay. A returning band, “Divided Minds”, was just named by Phoenix New Times as one of the best metro Phoenix bands under 21 for 2017. Returning band, “Don’t Tell Mom”, finished 3rd in the 2016 Proof is in the Pudding Competition. Newly formed (2016) country band, “Homestretch”, features the talents of Grady Byrne (recently accepted to Belmont University in Nashville) and Matt Ward (recently accepted to USC’s Thornton School of Music). These performers, with big name talent shows, EPs and CDs under their belts, are accomplished artists.

 

Rock the District was started eight years ago by Cactus Shadows High School alumnus Melissa Nelson. Melissa is now studying and working in New York City. Most recently, she appeared on an episode of Law and Order.

 

All proceeds from Rock the District benefit Cave Creek Unified School District teachers. The teachers submit grant applications for items that are otherwise not district funded and meet CCUEF’s Four Pillars: Technology; Music and the Arts; International Learning; and Health and Wellness.

 

In September 2016, CCUEF awarded more than $20,000 in grant awards to teachers throughout CCUSD. In the four years the foundation has been awarding grants, more than $100,000 has gone directly to CCUSD classrooms.

 

The March 4th concert will support 2017 Grant Awards. Admission is $10 for students and faculty, $20 for adults, children 4 and under FREE. Food and beverage will be available for purchase during the concert along with a raffle and silent auction.
