Thank you for supporting today’s cleanup along t he northernmost part of Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale. Miles of roadsides along Scottsdale’s Desert Foothills Scenic Drive looks better because of your effort.  Special thanks to Bill Scott and Gina Kulp for managing the north and south sign-in locations, respectively.

Volunteers responded to the sign-in changes that Friends implemented to make the cleanup “contact free.” In addition to requiring that volunteers follow social distance guidelines and wear masks, procedural changes were made to make it safer for volunteers to pick up and drop up suppliers. When they arrived at their chosen sign-in location volunteers were provided with a pre-packaged bag of supplies, including a litter “grabber,”, safety vest, gloves and a supply of empags. Volunteers were available to assist incoming volunteers at both sign-in location. Friends was one of the founding organizations to support Scottsdale’s Adopt-A-Road program.

While the turnout was not as large as usual, we were able to clear approximately nine miles of roadside of litter. Thanks again.

The date of the next cleanup will be announced soon in The Peak.
