GPPA-Friends of the Scenic Drive thanks the more than 25 volunteers who made its Scenic Drive cleanup on Saturday, April 22nd the most successful of the year, both in terms of turnout and fun.  Because of your community service, we were able to clear 13 miles of roadside along the northern reaches of Scottsdale Road, from Happy Valley Road to Carefree Highway.

Following the cleanup, volunteers gathered for six drawings of movie tickets. A cool way to enjoy the summer.

This was the last cleanup of the season. The cleanups will resume next fall. Watch The Peak for the 2017-2018 schedule.

GPPA has one of the oldest and most successful Adopt-A-Road programs in the City of Scottsdale. We want to make it even better next year, with more volunteers and fun! Any ideas on how we might do this? Let us know. Your input is appreciated.

Special thanks to Cindy Lee and Edie Shannon for managing the two sign-in locations and to Peter Cherry and Cindy Lee for their photographic contributions.

Not every volunteer got “into the picture” with the roving photographer, but everyone’s time and effort to clean up litter along Scottsdale Road’s Scenic Drive was much appreciated. Here they are!
