Thank you Alan Rosell, Bill Scott, Cindy Lee, Claire Powers, Copper Phillips, David & Diana Smith, Jim Smith, Les Conklin, Pete Gil, Peter Skidd and his daughter Sonya Skidd. Because of your efforts, we were able to clear litter along the northernmost 6 1/2 miles stretch of N. Scottsdale Road. Visitors heading our way are sure to appreciate our beautiful, clean natural environment.
Immediately following the cleanup, volunteers took part in three drawings. Claire Powers and Pete Gil won the drawings for $15 AMC Gift Cards. : Alan Rosell won the drawing for a $25 AMC Gift Card.
The cleanups began more than 50 years ago when Maricopa County residents joined forces to maintain the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive. After the area was annexed into Scottsdale, Friends of the Scenic Drive, a corps of volunteers within the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association, assumed responsibility for the northern-most section of N. Scottsdale Road, referred to today as Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive. The Scenic Drive was established by area residents to preserve roadside vegetation and establish scenic setbacks.
As the cleanup event progressed, Cindy Lee took photos and created the photo journal shown below. Not everyone “got into the picture” but the contributions of all who came are much appreciated! We look forward to seeing you at the next cleanup! The date will be posted in The Peak.
And thank you again for your time and efforts to help keep the Scenic Drive clean and scenic.
