The State Land Department has proposed replacing the Scenic Drive’s exhibit and the neighboring open desert with new commercial and resort/tourism development. At a community meeting held on May 20th, the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association showed the video “Save the Scenic Drive from MORE Commercial Development” to a packed house that included more than 180 residents, plus state, and city officials.

The video was followed by sustained round of applause delivered by residents. In addition to rolling out its new video, the association also distributed the flyer “Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive: 52 Reasons to Save a Landmark Community Service Project.
The Greater Pinnacle Peak Association – Friends of the Scenic Drive has produced two other videos to publicize its opposition to this proposal.
