Celebrate 25 years of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, Nov. 4

Commemorate the 25th anniversary of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. A celebration in its honor will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at WestWorld, 16601 N. Pima Road. The nonprofit organization champions for the sustainability of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve for the benefit of this and future generations. The preserve features 170 miles of scenic trails that can be accessed from 11 convenient trailheads. The preserve opens at sunrise and closes at sunset to provide desert wildlife — which is more active at night — a break from humans.

Scottsdale Cares donation program helps change lives

Thanks to programs that receive Scottsdale Cares funding, Alexa learned new skills, overcame disabilities, gained self-esteem and is now employed. Scottsdale Cares is the city’s voluntary utility bill donation program. Your donation will also change lives — and it’s simple to participate. If you receive a utility bill from Scottsdale, simply check the donation box that will add $1 to your monthly bill, money that will go to fund nonprofit agencies that assist thousands of Scottsdale residents each year. If you use auto-pay or sure-pay forms to pay your Scottsdale utility bill, you can call 480-312-2461 and designate “yes” to make a donation to Scottsdale Cares. Learn more about the program and the organizations that receive funding. Watch this video on the program and learn more about Alexa’s success.
