Meeting February 7th at Granite Reef Senior Center
Learn how to grow your own healthy food, herbs, edible flowers and fruit trees in our desert environment at the February Green Building Lecture.
The free program runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road. RSVPs are not needed.
You’ll hear about Arizona’s planting and harvesting seasons, the importance of seed-saving and ancient grains.
And the best part … a food-tasting experience for all ages.
Master gardeners Carol Stuttard and Joan Baron will lead the discussion.
Carol has taught gardening throughout the Valley, has appeared on the PBS series, “Gardening in the Southwest” and was featured in Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine.
Environmental artist and master gardener Joan Baron joins Carol to share their adventures in seed-saving and growing edible flowers, vegetables and herbs year-round – all while inventing tasty recipes to share.
This lecture is one in a series that includes:
- April 4 – Radiant Cooling and Other Alternatives to Conventional Air Conditioning
- June 6 – Cutting Edge Residential and Commercial Green High-Performance Buildings
