Scenic Drive Intersection Improvements Planned

Friends of the Scenic Drive Sign

u might have noticed that the project to underground utility poles and lines along the northern part of Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive, has been completed. In addition, re-vegetation and strengthening of the roadside vegetative line is in process. Recently, Tim Conner, Manager – Office of Environmental Initiatives for the City of Scottsdale, sent Friends an update about the progress of planned intersection improvements.

At the current time, a contractor is quoting a price to make improvements at three major node intersections (Jomax Road, Dynamite Boulevard, and Lone Mountain Road). Assuming the aggregate cost for the three intersections is equal to or less than $500,000; construction and landscaping will begin sometime in February 2016.

The two remaining intersections on the Scenic Drive that have been planned for improvements are at Ashler Hills and Dixileta Drive. These two intersections are being comebined with final trail plans and will have to be designed for the city’s formal bidding process. It is possible that construction on these two pieces could begin in the Fall of 2016.
