Late breaking news!
Water will remain ON at PPP!
Yay! I have just been notified that the Water Department has changed their project time and are now going to begin when the park closes on Tuesday after 5:45 pm! Our water WILL NOT be turned off after all!
This is proof to never give up on hoping for a different outcome to a less than favorable situation! Time to go do my happy dance!
It is a great day!

10-28-20 Update
Good Morning Volunteers and Hikers!
The time will be changing on Sunday, November 1st. Opening will move to 6:30a and closing to 5:45p. We have unfortunately been having a good steady supply of trespassers entering the park before opening time. I want to give you all a heads up that Scottsdale PD has been notified. So, those of you who get here way in advance of opening and wait on the street for staff to arrive and open, may notice a police car parked near the entrance gate to deter rule breakers.
Just a heads up! There will be NO WATER on Tuesday, November 3rd from 10a-3p. The Water Department will be replacing a water line out on 102nd Way during this time. If you are a late morning hiker, this might be a good opportunity to explore one of the 225+ trail in our 30,000 acre McDowell Sonoran Preserve! Also, I know that many of you head directly to the restroom when you arrive. Therefore, I suggest that you take a little field trip in the vicinity before hiking the trail. The closest restroom and drinking fountain to PPP is Doc Cavalliere Park, 27775 N. Alma School Pkwy, just north on Alma School behind Fire Station #14.
If you haven’t made it to the Jomax gate this week, the attached photo will give you a gander at what the trail crew was doing on Monday to beautify our trail! They planted 2 mesquite trees purchased by our Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park, and using all muscle power available, repositioned the Bob Rosenberg memorial bench to a proper sitting height! Someday these mesquites will become a wonderful dose of shade for a nice little sitting spot! Yay!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We are anticipating that even though the pandemic guidelines are suggesting not to gather in large crowds, PPP may still experience record number of visitors as we have in past years, given that we are already hosting daily attendance from 400-800 with a whopping 1260 people here this past Saturday. This too might be a really good day to explore the preserve!
Our Little Library is back in business! However, we currently are not accepting books, just giving books! If you have any books to donate, please do! The Appaloosas Library drive-through is open and accepting them!
Wishing you all a relaxing Pumpkin Day and wonderful rest of your week! Thank you!
