Waste Management Phoenix Open safety plan limits daily fan attendance to 5,000
The COVID-19 event safety plan for the Waste Management Phoenix Open has been approved. The plan caps daily fan attendance at 5,000, requires face coverings throughout the 192-acre venue, and provides temperature checks for everyone entering the event.
Scottsdale has been in regular communication with the PGA Tour and the Thunderbirds regarding the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open. As with all of Scottsdale’s signature events, many months of advance planning are involved.
During a global pandemic, planning an event that in past years has been the most attended golf tournament in the world has taken thoughtfulness and thoroughness. The tournament’s safety plan was developed with regular review and input from the City of Scottsdale and fully respects every public safety guideline.
Statement from Scottsdale Mayor David D. Ortega:
“Even though the number of fans allowed into the venue will be vastly reduced, I am pleased that we can continue this wonderful tournament even as we continue our collective efforts to be safe and healthy.”
