You don’t have to go into space to enjoy beautiful skies. They are a frequent occurrence here in Peakland as demonstrated by the entries for The Peak’s 2018 Beautiful Skies Photograph Contest.

The Peak’s contest was inspired by the photo Earthrise, taken by Apollo 8 Astronaut William Anders during a lunar orbit on December 24, 1968. Acclaimed nature photographer Galen Rowell called the image “… the t influential environmental photo ever taken.”

Entrants were encouraged to submit up to four of their favorite original photographs of Sonoran sunsets, sunrises, full moons, clouds, lightening, stars, etc. The following prizes were awarded:

  • First Place. Two $50 gift cards for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar
  • Second Place. $50 gift card for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar
  • Third Place. $25 AMC Entertainment Gift Card
  •  All winners will also receive a Summit Diner discount cards.

The winning photographs and selected non-winning photographs will be published in The Peak and publicized in The Peak’s newsletter and on The Peak‘s Facebook page.
