Litter Can Be Fun: Photos of April 18th Scenic Drive Cleanup

Courtesy of Friends of the Scenic Drive/GPPA

Volunteers, Thank you for your service to Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive on Saturday, April 18th. You cleared 13 miles of roadside of litter in two hours and enjoyed a beautiful morning too!

Did you know that residents of our area began maintaining the Scenic Drive roadside more than 50 years ago. In the beginning, when the area was under the jurisdiction of Maricopa County, cleanups were conducted by Cave Creek Improvement Association volunteers. Today, and for the last 25 years, cleanups are conducted by Scottsdale’s Friends of the Scenic Drive. Volunteers, you are part of an enviable  tradition of community service.

Friends of the Scenic Drive conducts at least four roadside cleanups from September through April every year. This cleanup concludes the 2014-2015 cleanup schedule. See you next fall. AND, we will take even more photographs. Here are photo of a few of the 24 volunteers who donated their time.
