Arizona Watercolor Association – Juried Show and Sale

Showing at The Holland Gallery from Sept. 30 – Nov. 18, Mon.-Thurs. 10-4.

Opening Reception: Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020   4:30 – 6:30

The Arizona Watercolor Association display will not only include watercolor paintings, but all types of water-based media.  An organization of nearly 300 Artists, AWA has been active for 60 years, mentoring and presenting the works of some of Arizona’s most talented artists.

This exhibition will also be available online.  You will be able to access this feature on our website: www.azfcf.org. We feel that if people cannot come to the Holland Center, they can still see the show and hear from each artist. It’s a unique opportunity to share these wonderful works of art!

 

Art, Coffee, and Conversation

Art, Coffee, and Conversation is a wonderful, monthly workshop where art lovers get together to discuss the current show in the Holland Gallery of Fine Art.  Led by Nicolette Bonnstetter, the lively discussions that take place are fun and fascinating.  So join us on the 1st Friday of each month via Zoom. October 2nd’s program will be “Art and does size really matter?” in addition to a discussion of the Arizona Watercolor Association show that will go from Sept. 30 – Nov. 18. Embossed Pewter Sampler

In this 4-hour class, using simple hand tools, you will learn the basics of Repujado, the fine art of Metal Embossing. Lynda will walk you through various uses for each tool and simple embossing techniques as you embellish your piece of pewter. Leave class with a beautiful, embossed pewter sampler mounted on a wooden cradleboard. Beginners Welcome!

Making Fermented Foods to Boost Your Immune System

Learn to preserve and make probiotics from your garden, local farmer’s markets or the produce section at the grocery.  Naturally fermented foods have been shown to provide a high variety of beneficial gut bacteria known as probiotics. Bookbinding – Long Stitch Journal

Come join us and explore your creative side with this bookbinding technique. In this 4-hour bookbinding class with Lynda Abare, you will create your own unique journal cover; measure, cut, and fold pages, drill holes, then assemble, hand stitch, and bind your journal together. All students will leave class with a completed Long Stitch Journal.

Wrapped Doughnut Necklace

This class is a great opportunity to learn how to make a beautiful necklace and is led by Julia Harmon, a premier jewelry maker in the area.  You will select your “doughnut” with a choice of several colors, along with wires and beads.  You will then turn them into a wonderful pendant.  They make fabulous fashion accessories, and exceptional gifts!  You can either use your own tools, if you have them, or share those provided by the instructor.

Memory Project Workshop
Tuesday, Oct. 20, 27, and Nov. 10, 2020
1:00 – 2:30 pm

Susan McCaslin, a noted artist from CT, is going to give us a chance to express ourselves artistically in an attempt to make sense of all that we have experienced recently in our country and the world. Living through a pandemic is something unique and you will want to remember what it was like.  This workshop will have us create a 3-dimentional figure that will hold our memories, similar to a diary or a time-capsule.  All the materials you will need will be found around your house. Susan will help you get started, but you will be making it uniquely yours. So let your creative juices flow, and join us!  Three 1 1/2-hour Zoom classes. $20 for all 3 sessions.
