The Healthy Brain Expo Comes to the Desert Foothills

Scottsdale, AZ, August 31, 2016:  Learn how to train your brain, eat right for good nutrition, be emotionally resilient, practice mindfulness, and hear about current scientific research on preserving brain health in the interactive experiential workshops.  The Healthy Brain Expo is hosted by the Foothills Community Foundation’s MindQuest Speakers Series that will feature nine workshops and many exhibit booths.  This half-day event is focused on positive aspects of engaging your brain to keep you young, active, and strong.

 Sponsoring organizations include HonorHealth, Barrow Neurological Institute, Desert Foothills Family YMCA, Foothills Community Foundation and The UPS Store. “Barrow is committed to providing world-class care, furthering research, and educating the public,” says Lucy Ranus, RN, BSN, manager of the prevention and outreach program at Barrow Neurological Institute. “Events like this provide an important opportunity for the community to learn about preventing brain injuries and to protect our brains.”

 Foothills Community Foundation President and CEO Chris Winger states, “This event is a first of its kind at our community center.  Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to stimulate and improve their own brain health.”

 The Healthy Brain Expo will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (registration opens at 8:30 a.m.) at the Holland Community Center, 34250 N. 60th Street, Bldg. B, Scottsdale, AZ 85266. Advance registration is recommended at www.azfcf.org or call 480-488-1090. Cost is $20 for adults, $15 Seniors (over 65), and $10 for Students with ID.
