Jan Green
It’s been a dream project to purchase a 1979 home with the intent to add energy efficient features. Building codes and homeowner needs were different when this home was built. Asbestos was commonly used in that era so eradicating those finishes became a priority, including mold, wood rot and termites. During the project, much was uncovered and changed. The finished product is much more energy efficient with better indoor air quality, low water use and low maintenance finishes. Understanding what comes first in energy efficiency is critical to making smart decisions when remodeling older construction. |

As a REALTOR®, Certified EcoBroker, and GREEN designee, Jan works to assist clients with understanding ways to save energy, live a healthier lifestyle, reuse materials and lower utility costs. Clients receive value added service and gain the most dollars possible when selling their home with special features, and buyers feel they are using a trusted advisor in their search for their next home. Jan is an instructor at Arizona School of Real Estate & Business, coordinator for the green appraiser courses and co-creator of the “Value of Green” panel discussions (2012 – present). She serves on the advisory board for Efficiency First Arizona, and is a member of the Residential Green Building Committee and AZ chapter of the US Green Building Council. Jan received the RE/MAX “Above the Crowd” award for community involvement. She is working on the latest update to the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to reflect the value of green and energy efficient homes. |
