On Tuesday, December 15, 2015 the members of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association celebrated the holiday season by re-electeding ten board members to serve new terms. The new board will serve for three years from from December 16, 2015 through December 15, 2018. The members of the new board are:
Horst Berkner
Berkner has been active in Friends of the Scenic Drive since 1996 and has served on GPPA board since 2005. A retired senior engineering manager with a defense contractor, Horst is a resident of north Scottsdale. Horst has played a key role in the management of activities related to the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, which is maintained by the association.
Robert Cappel
Dr. Cappel joined GPPA’s board in 2009. He is an environmental scientist and toxicologist and retired as World-wide Director of Kodak’s Health, Safety & Environmental Support Services. Bob is the president of the Winfield Homeowners Association and a resident of north Scottsdale.
Don Doherty
Doherty has 40 years of real estate investment, development, and management experience. He serves on numerous boards: community charitable, companies, and private entities. He is a member of the board of the Happy Valley Ranch 1 HOA. Don has served on GPPA’s board since 2014.
Les Conklin
Conklin has been active in Friends of the Scenic Drive since 1994 and has served on GPPA’s board since 1996. He is the editor of the association’s online and social media publications. Les retired from a career in software industry and lives in north Scottsdale. He has served on City of Scottsdale commissions and a board member of several community groups. Les is a member of Scottsdale’s History Hall of Fame.
George Constantinou
Constantinou is an IT professional, managing complex technological for large corporate customers. George is a member of the board of the Happy Vally Ranch 1 HOA and represents the HOA on City of Scottsdale Pinnacle Peak area drainage study group. George moved to north Scottsdale in 2014 and has served on GPPA’s board since 2014.
Robert Fox
Fox is co-founder of nonprofit Wild At Heart, a nationally-recognized raptor rehabilitation center. Bob joined GPPA’s board in 2011. He is a resident of Cave Creek.
Ginger Schoenau
Ms. Schoenau is an independent businessperson, operating and interior decorating and upholstering firm. She has served on GPPA’s board since 2000 and is a resident of north Scottsdale. Ginger is responsible for the financial management of the association and its A Peek at the Peak magazine.
Cindy Lee
Lee, who moved to Scottsdale from New York in 2009, is a professional TV commercial film producer. A member of GPPA’s board since 2014, Cindy produced the “Save the Scenic Drive” video series. Lee is a board member and vice president of the Happy Valley Ranch 1 HOA. As a volunteer, she provides insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries.
Kenneth Lew
Ken has been in the financial industry since 1993 joining Merrill Lynch/Bank of America in 2008. He is a former CFO and business consultant. He has been active in Friends of the Scenic Drive and served on GPPA’s board since 2004. Ken is a resident of north Scottsdale.
Maxine Rosenberg
Maxine Rosenberg joined the GPPA’s board in 1995. She served as vice president and general manager for Conn.-American Water Company prior to moving to Arizona. Maxine played an important part in the growth of “The Peak” and GPPA. Maxine has authored a column for the magazine and helped organize GPPA’s fund raisers.
Marg Nelssen and Ken Melnick retired from the GPPA Boad of Directors. GPPA thanks them for their years of outstanding service to the community.
GPPA’s Board of Directors holds monthly meetings. Every three years a special membership meeting is held to elect a new board of directors. The board can appoint new directors at any time during its three year term. For information about becoming a GPPA member click on the link below.

The Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) was founded in the Pinnacle Peak area of Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1977. GPPA is a nonprofit 501 c(3) organization dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment and the enhancement of quality of life in the North Scottsdale Sonoran Desert. Friends of the Scenic Drive, founded in 1994, is a division of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association that works to preserve and enhance the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, an area landmark since 1963.
