Visual Arts Trip to the Scottsdale Museum of Modern Art:
As a finale to the wonderful Visual Arts Series of Lectures that was held here in January and February, we have organized a docent-led trip to the Scottsdale Museum of Modern Art. We provide the transportation, lunch is on your own, and then Perrin McEwan will take us on an hour-long private tour of the museum. We will leave the Holland Center promptly at 10:00 AM and return by 3:00 PM, on Thursday, April 19, 2018. Sign up at www.azfcf.org. $45
Holland Gallery of Art
We have an incredible show at the Holland Gallery of Art this month. It is a Western Themed Show that features the work of 35 local artists. It is called “Get Your Giddy Up” and subtitled: Hooves, Hats, and Horns. There are paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, as well as a number of sculptures, and photographs. The caliber of work is amazing. Don’t miss this one. The Reception for the Artists will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 4:30 – 6:30. There will be refreshments and Western music!

Beaded Kumihimo Bracelet

In this workshop, using a portable Kumihimo loom, you will learn a simple Kumihimo weave called an 8-warp round braid. Lynda Abare will walk you through the basics regarding the loom Kumihimo cord, loading your beads, the weave sequence, and finishing your bracelet. Beginners welcome. Join Sunny Hall, owner of Paint and Gogh, for a creative painting experience that is a step-by-step guided acrylic painting class. You will take home your 16″ x 20″ acrylic painting of a Southwestern doorway at the end of the class. All supplies are furnished, including easels, paint, canvas, aprons and brushes. Fresh coffee and hot topics! Nothing beats a fresh cup of coffee and gathering with interesting people. This is the last meeting of the season and the subject is History. More details will be in our email blast which comes out next Saturday. This topic will be explored through the TED talks medium, which consists of a short video (20 min.), with host, Mark Sweeney, facilitating conversation afterwards. ($2 at the door).
