FCF-HCC September 2016 Classes, Programs and Events

Scottsdale, AZ, August 31, 2016:  September 2016 classes, programs and events below will all take place at the FCF-Holland Community Center, 34250 N. 60th Street, Building B, Scottsdale, AZ 85266. The FCF-HCC is closed Monday, September 5 for holiday.

 

September 1 – 30
“Portraits in Excellence: Suite of all Six Musicians” by Frederick J Brown. View the artist’s proofs of six jazz musicians displayed in the Art Exhibit in the Holland Gallery of Fine Art.
Registration: Call 480-488-1090 in advance to check on room availability for viewing.
Cost: No admission fee.
Place: FCF-Holland Gallery of Fine Art (Quail Room)

 

Weekly Bingo.  Every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Holland Community Center. Raffle prizes and $375 paid out weekly (based on minimum attendance requirements). Cards go on sale at 1:00 p.m. Individuals or social groups welcome.

Friday, September 9, 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.
International Film Festival at the Holland Community Center featuring the French film “Tell No One” (France, NR; 125 min).  Pediatrician Dr. Alexandre Beck’s beloved wife Margot was brutally murdered by a notorious serial killer eight years earlier.  Although once a suspect, Alexandre was eventually cleared by the police.  However, he still mourns her loss.  On the eighth anniversary of her murder, Margot emails him…Gary Zaro, Director of “The Film Festival at PVCC” main campus, will introduce each film and lead a post-film discussion.

Friday, September 16, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
T.G.I.F. Tasters Club first of nine series is about Coffee Cupping presented by Alex Mason, General Manager, Press Coffee Roaster, Scottsdale. Coffee cupping, or coffee tasting, is the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. Coffee roasters use this method to choose what coffees to buy and how to roast it for the best flavor profile. Alex will walk you through this process with three distinctly different coffees from three different growing regions.

Thursday, September 29, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
All That Jazz community event featuring jazz art and music. From 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. FCF-HCC hosts a reception and exhibition of “Portraits in Excellence: Suite of all Six Musicians” by Frederick J Brown jazz art collection. View the artist’s proofs displayed in the Art Exhibit in the Holland Gallery of Fine Art. Meet representatives from FCF-Holland Community Center, CCUSD Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, and Paradise Valley Community Center to learn about the latest 2016-17 programs, classes and events. From 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. the PVCC Faculty Jazz Ensemble at Black Mountain Campus will perform a free concert in the Aquila Hall outdoor amphitheater, featuring small jazz ensemble music ranging from classic to modern jazz. Audience is invited to bring folding chairs for seating and a picnic dinner.
