Small group travel experts Henry and Roberta Kritzia of Personalized Travel will explore one of the most stunning regions of Italy, Tuscany, at the Desert Foothills Library on Wednesday, November 2, at 3 p.m.

The lively, engaging slide presentation, “The Hidden Tuscany,” will describe highlights of their upcoming May 2017 tour.

  • Florence – a true “embarrassment of riches,” and home of Michelangelo’s masterpiece, David, the Uffizi, and the Pitti Palace.
  • San Gimignano – the City of Medieval Towers and a treasure trove for shoppers and those who may want to do a mixed media color sketch of the vineyards and spectacular panoramas.
  • Pienza – a Renaissance town, where travelers can walk the walls surrounding the town and savor wine tasting at its best in the nearby countryside.
  • Montalcino – famous for its BRUNELLO wines. A place where small group tour members can check out the Enoteca (wine bar) at the fortress in Montalcino, which provides spectacular panoramas from its ramparts.
  • Other Tuscany highlights  described during the presentation, and included in the tour, will be viewing the hidden Vasari Corridor above the Ponte Vecchio, which has just been made available to special groups after it was closed for nearly 500 years. The opportunity to experience the healing/calming qualities of Roman pools and spa facilities during the first hotel stay in Tuscany, and the opportunity for artists to sketch, on location, the courtyard at Castiglione d’ Orcia and the old well at the San Antimo Abbey.

Slide presentation participants will have the opportunity to obtain additional tour information and ask questions following the presentation.
