Scottsdale Water official named Arizona Operations Leader of the Year

Division wins eight safety awards at AZ Water Conference

Scottsdale, Ariz. (April 26, 2022) – Scottsdale Water Resources Administrator Kevin Rose was awarded Operations Leader of the Year at this year’s AZ Water Conference in April while the division took home multiple safety awards for each of its facilities.

Rose was nominated after distinguishing himself as a respected leader within the division and city since starting at Scottsdale in 2017. Overseeing 180 employees and 80% of the division’s operating budget, Rose directs all utility operating departments including water, wastewater and recycled water operations which encompasses SCADA and instrumentation controls.

“I’m humbled and honored to receive such praise, especially from the peers I work with and employees I serve,” said Rose. “It’s really my employees who make the difference and at Scottsdale Water, we have some of the most knowledgeable and dedicated staff who I’ve ever had the privilege to work with.”

Scottsdale Water was also recognized for its outstanding safety performance with eight different operations receiving awards. The Award of Honor for safe operation of the facility with zero lost days during the year and a minimum of one man-year worked (2,080 hours) was awarded to:

  • Wastewater Collection
  • Scottsdale Water Reclamation Plant
  • Central Groundwater Treatment Facility
  • CAP Treatment Plant
  • Advance Water Treatment Plant
  • Gainey Ranch Treatment Plant

Awards of Merit were also given to Chaparral Treatment Facility and Scottsdale Water Production/Distribution group for safe operation of the facility with less than the maximum number of lost days.
