Cactus Shadows High School Student Receives a Perfect Score on the ACT Test
Cactus Shadows High School is pleased to announce that Katianna Blackwell-Scott, Class of 2021, earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT Test. Katianna has been enrolled in CCUSD since 7th grade where she attended Sonoran Trails Middle School.
Her achievement is significant and rare. Less than one-half of 1% of test takers earn this score. Fewer than 5,000 students out of 1.8 million who took the test in 2019 received a perfect score.
Laurie Umbarger, Assistant Principal at Cactus Shadows said, âWe are proud of Katianna for her national achievement!â
The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The ACT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board. The ACT takes 3 hours (plus 50 minutes for an essay) including Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. The purpose of the test is to measure a high school studentâs readiness for college. College admissions officers review standardized test scores together with the Grade Point Average (GPA) and the classes taken in high school.
Dr. Debbi Burdick, Superintendent said, âWhat an accomplishment! We are so proud of Katianna. She is another outstanding example of a Cactus Shadows Student.â
