Spring into history at the Cave Creek Museum with new programs for children and adults and continuing exhibitions, including the benchmark exhibit “The Photography of Edward S. Curtis” that runs through May 18, 2018.

Visit the Museum on April 8 (1:30pm – 3:30pm) for some ‘hands-on’ history at “Do Artifacts Talk,” a Family Fun Workshop. Children will learn to ‘listen’ to what artifacts tell as they practice proper handling of important items. Learning to treasure your own heritage and memories is a big part of the discussion, so you won’t want to miss this! Reservations are required to be sure that there are enough supplies for all the family members to enjoy. “Do Artifacts Talk” is free for Cave Creek Museum members and $5.00 for non-members at the door. Make reservations online through the Cave Creek Museum website or call the Museum.

The Adult Discovery Series on April 14, (2:00pm to 3:30pm) presents “The Tale of Three Town: Cave Creek, Marion and Liscum.” When you wander the hills and washes of Spur Cross Conservation Area and Jewel of the Creek, you tread where a bustling town once stood and a 100-stamp mill roared. “The Tale of Three Towns,” including The Showdown at the Phoenix Mine, is an entertaining way to learn something new and interesting. This program of the Adult Discovery Series is free for Museum members and $5.00 for non-members at the door. Reservations are suggested, as seating space is limited.

A demonstration of the Museum’s operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill will take place from 1:30pm to 2:00pm, right before the Discover Series starts. When you feel the thump of the Museum’s ten-stamp mill in your bones, you can image how incredible the 100-stamp mill must have been.

Looking forward to May 6, the Family Fun Workshop is “We’re Dude Ranching … at the Museum!” from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Learn to rope a steer, from a real cowboy! Participants will make their own chaps and corsets, then relax by the “fire,” while we all sing old campfire songs and enjoy s’mores. Reservations are required to be sure that there are enough supplies, especially the s’mores! “Dude Ranching at the Museum” is free for Cave Creek Museum members and $5.00 for non-members at the door.
