St. Mary’s Food Bank Awards the Arizona State Fair “2015 Hunger Hero Award”
Phoenix, Ariz. The Arizona State Fair, in partnership with Sanderson Ford and Operation Santa Claus, hosted its most successful food drive to date, which benefited St. Mary’s Food Bank! The Arizona State Fair is a proud recipient of the 2015 Hunger Hero Award. This award recognizes three different areas of achievement, including cash donations, volunteer hours, and/or food collection.  The Arizona State Fair was recognized for food collection. During the 2015 We Care Wednesday’s promotion, over 83,000 pounds of food were collected. Arizona experienced persistent rain on two of those three collection days; so that’s quite an achievement! “We’re honored to receive this award from our partners at St. Mary’s Food Bank and even more humbled by the support of our community every year,” said Wanell Costello, Arizona State Fair, Executive Director.
 The Arizona State Fair is excited to announce its continued partnership with both Sanderson Ford and Operation Santa Claus to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank for We Care Wednesdays 2016! Our goal this year is to raise 100,000 pounds of food. Every Wednesday, during the Arizona State Fair, guests will receive FREE admission until 6 p.m., with a donation of four non-perishable cans of food. Fairgoers will once again, get the opportunity to give back to their community and enjoy all the fun, food, rides, and games the Arizona State Fair has to offer, courtesy of Sanderson Ford and Operation Santa Claus. All gate discounts must be used at time of purchase. Not valid in combination with any other offer. Bottled water and ramen noodles will not be accepted.
