GPPA Elects Officers
At its meeting on Tuesday, March 28th, the board of directors of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) elected officers for 2017-2018. The following officers were elected:
President – Les Conklin
Vice President – Cindy Lee
Treasurer – Ginger Schoenau
Secretary – Ken Lew
Assistant Secretary – Maxine Rosenberg
Editor – Les Conklin.
The board thanks Bob Cappel for his service to GPPA and the community. Bob served as president of GPPA from 2013 and as a member of the board from 2010. Earlier this month, Cappel resigned for personal reasons from GPPA’s board and as the organization’s president. Bob and his wife, Linda, were instrumental in the creation and planning of two Mystery Car Rally fund raisers. Bob represented GPPA at numerous neighborhood and city meetings related to planning, zoning, and development matters in north Scottsdale.
The Greater Pinnacle Peak Association, founded in the Pinnacle Peak area of Scottsdale, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment and the enhancement of quality of life in the north Scottsdale Sonoran Desert. Friends of the Scenic Drive, a corps of volunteers within GPPA, helps maintain, protect, and publicize Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive, founded by residents in 1963 to preserve roadside vegetation and vistas. Scenic Drive Roadside Cleanup April 22nd
GPPA-Friends will be conducting a roadside litter cleanup on Saturday, April 22nd. This will be GPPA’s last cleanup until next fall. On the 22nd, Adopt-A-Road groups from all over the city will be clearing their assigned areas of letter. Volunteers are needed and welcome. For information, read “Get in the Picture, Win Prize, at Scottsdale Scenic Drive Cleanup, Sat., Apr. 22nd.”
Good News
Recently, Constant Contact announced that GPPA has been named as a Constant Contact All Star. The annual award recognizes the most successful 10 percent of Constant Contact’s customer base. This is the eighth consecutive year that GPPA has achieved all star status based on its use of Constant Contact’s email campaign management application. For information about the award, read “GPPA Earns 2016 Constant Contact All Star Award.” To subscribe to The Peak Newsletter, read “Subscribe to Our Newsletter.”
More good news. The Peak online magazine recorded the highest number of visitors, 13417, this month, exceeding the previous record 13,100 set in January, 2017. Readership has been steadily increasing since The Peak transitioned to an online publication more than two years ago. Importantly, on average each visitor visits the site more than twice a month and views more than 10 pages per visit. People are not only checking the site out, they are staying and viewing the content on at least ten pages. Transitioning The Peak from a print to an online publication has enabled GPPA to reach more readers, more frequently, with much more and diverse content, and at lower cost.
