Cave Creek Museum

“Presentation by Native American to Pinnacle Peak Hikers” by Frank Biondo

The museum features an extensive collection of prehistoric and historic artifacts that describe the lives of Native Americans, miners, ranchers and pioneers that lived in the area.

Desert Foothills Community Foundation

Offers a variety of services, activities, and presentations such as, the Desert Foothills Theater, MindQuest, Holland Community Center, and more.

Desert Foothills Land Trust

Visitors are welcome to enjoy trails at the Jewel of the Creek, PA Seitts Preserve at Go John Canyon, and Saguaro Hill. Preserves are open year-round, dawn to dusk.

Desert Foothills Library

Looking for youth activities? Interested in joining an adult book club, watching a Monday Movie at the Library, learning how to use that new computer tablet or download library books? There’s a variety of adult and youth activities available at the library.

McDowell Sonoran Conservancy
Hikes, conservation talks, and other McDowell Sonoran Preserve activities.

MIM, Musical Instrument Museum

MIM displays more than 6500 musical instruments from about 200 of the world’s countries. The museum offers gallery tours, cultural activities, special events, and educational programs.

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts

Presents live performances, educational programs, , student activities, and a variety of community events.

Scottsdale Public Library

Events and services for youth, teens, and adults. Scottsdale operates six libraries. The closest to the Scenic Drive and Pinnacle Peak is the Appaloosa Library.

Scottsdale Indoor Fitness Classes

Scottsdale offers a variety of air-conditioned facilities and fitness programs. Classes are offered from baby to “boomer.” visit .

Scottsdale Museum of the West

Celebrates the art, culture, and history of the 19 states that comprise the American West. Offers gallery tours and other activities.

Sonoran Arts League

An association of local artists that operate the Gallery at el Pedregal, and present the annual Hidden in the Hills Artists Studio Tour & Sale and other events.

Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center

Tours, monthly early childhood and youth educational classes to inspire conservation of the natural world.

TPC Scottsdale 

Home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Provides several courses and a variety of golf-related activities.

Scenic Drive: Attractions and Shopping

In addition to scenery, plants and animals, the areas adjacent and near the Scenic Drive  are dotted with places to see and things to do.  The many attractions vary from horseback riding to enjoying unique dining experiences.   Shopping opportunities include the very special el Pedregal and convenient retail centers.

Scenic Drive: Neighborhoods, Churches, Schools

Most of the volunteers who help with this publication and the Scenic Drive first came to the area as visitors and decided to move here permanently or at least during the winter months.

Adjacent to the Scenic Drive there are older equestrian properties off dirt roads, gated master planned communities with golf, tennis, pools, and fitness centers, and traditional family-style neighborhoods.   There are churches and schools nearby.
