Thank you volunteers, Carvalho’s and Scottsdale for your continued support!

A long-standing area tradition continued on Saturday, January 27th. Neighbors, who live along or near Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive, gathered to clear roadside litter along North Scottsdale Road from Carefree Highway south to Happy Valley Road, a distance of 6 1/2 miles. After the cleanup, breakfast was sponsored by Ruth and Phil Marsteller, owners of Carvalho’s Brazilian Kitchen. Volunteers gathered at the restaurant to meet new volunteers and catch up on local and personal news.  As the cleanup event progressed, Cindy Lee and Peter Cherry created the photo journal shown below.

The cleanups, which began 22 years ago, are organized by the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) and conducted by Friends of the Scenic Drive, a corps of volunteers, which works to preserve and enhance Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive, a.k.a. Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, which was established by area residents in 1963.

We look forward to seeing you in April for the next cleanup and gathering at Carvalho’s.
