HEADLINESCouncil to interview city manager candidates, possibly extend offer tonight. The field of candidates for Scottsdale’s city manager position doubled to six finalists. Joseph L. Lessard, former assistant city manager of Austin, Texas, joins the pool. The City Council will host a special public meeting at 5 p.m. tonight (Dec. 8) to hear from the candidates who were not previously interviewed. The council may extend a job offer to its top choice at the meeting. Tonight’s meeting will be at City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd., and it will be televised/live streamed on Scottsdale Video Network. EVENTSVia Linda senior center hosts gallery-themed art show. Artwork by the Via Linda senior center’s students and instructors will be on display at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9. Admission is free with one canned food item to benefit the Vista del Camino Food Bank.
Holiday Lights returns to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, Dec. 9-Jan. 1. Take a train ride through festive holiday lights and displays which turn the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park into a winter wonderland. Opening night festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and include a tree lighting, entertainment and a visit from a special guest – you know who! Watch this.
Arizona Game & Fish present free program at Pinnacle Peak Park. “Sonoran Desert Life” explores the fascinating ways that animals and plants adapt and thrive to live and survive in the Arizona Sonoran Desert.
