Council continues city manager recruitment

The Scottsdale City Council will continue searching for its next city manager after declining to make an offer to any of the three finalists recently interviewed for the job. The Council directed staff to conduct a second recruitment. The finalists were: Jim Colson, city manager of the city of Topeka, Kansas; Jeffery M. Nichols, Scottsdale city treasurer; and Orlando L. Sanchez, deputy city manager of the city of Las Vegas. Brian K. Biesemeyer, Scottsdale’s water director, will continue serving as acting city manager, a post he has held for the past year.

Scottsdale’s parks system ranked Arizona’s best

The Trust for Public Land, a nonprofit that works to create parks and protect land for people, recently ranked the park systems of the nation’s largest 100 cities. Scottsdale ranked the highest in Arizona. Rankings were based on various factors including size and number of parks, total dollars spent per resident, public access to parks and number of playgrounds.
