Outpost Conceptual Drawing, Elevation

Neighbors and others have gotten the word. Now we’re delivering it to you, so that you can get involved.

The very controversial, but city-council-approved, project to develop a gas station and retail establishment on the northwest corner of Pima Road and Dynamite Boulevard, both Scottsdale Scenic Corridors, is moving forward.   As expected by the city, the property owner is holding a “Neighborhood Meeting” to present information about the project to interested residents. The meeting is open to the public.

Wednesday, November 2, at 6 p.m.
Copper Ridge School: Cafeteria
10101 E. Thompson Peak Parkway (see map below)

Click on the links below to review the letter and other related information that the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association and The Peak has received. Hope to see you at the meeting. As the project moves forward, the only sure way for residents to protect their interests and ensure developer promises are kept is to learn, remain vigilant, and when necessary speak out.

  1. This development represents the first major zoning amendment approved by the Scottsdale
City Council for commercial construction next to rural zoned land and sets a precedent
for such commercial development in North Scottsdale. Both the Planning Commission and
members of the City Council praised
the design of the project as another worthy creation by architect Vernon Swaback who also has been
commissioned to design the proposed Desert Discovery Center within the Macdowell Sonoran
Preserve. I see nothing so worthy of such praise in this design and believe that the
architect’s name on the project was enlisted to gain approval for the gas station for
which the owner of the land is now requesting a conditional permit. This Project faced
strong opposition by residents in the area, but was approved nevertheless.
