Dagnabbit you onery horse
You miserable bag of bones
I’ll sharpen my spurs, dig in my heels
You ugly strawberry roan

Now straighten up and quiet down
We got an eighteen mile ride
Behave yourself and settle down
Or I’m gonna tan your hide

I rode plenty of broncs in my lifetime
But narry a strawberry roan
Don’t matter none, I’ll hang on tight
Cause I ain’t walkin’ home

Some horse flesh aint fit to ride
And you must fit the bill
You’ll curse the day you ever thought
That you could break my will

You ain’t worth the oats or grass
The boss throws in your stall
I seen my share of worthless nags
But I think you take them all

Knock off the prancing, just relax
This ain’t in no rodeo
We’ll make the most of this long ride
With fifteen miles to go

You won’t catch me off my guard
For a chance that you could buck
You’d need a whole lot more for this cowboy
Than a chance at simple luck

Well I do believe you’ve settled down
Why the change of mind
Did you figure out who’s in charge
Or did you finally just unwind

Well we’re half way there ole pal
And the day is holdin’ fair
There ain’t nothing like a full day’s ride
Out in the open air

We’re makin’ good time headin west
There’s a comfort in you stride
I’m glad that you and I got introduced
To make this lonely ride

There’s the ranch house up ahead
And there’s the barn and coral
I’ll cool you off and curry you down
And see they feed you well

Strawberry roan you’re quite the horse
I appreciate our time
Should anyone ask I’d have to say
You’re a favorite horse of mine
