Invitation to GPPA Members: Special May 20 N. Scottsdale Commercial Zoning Meeting

GPPA LogoMay 6, 2015

Dear GPPA Member,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER!

You’re invited to attend an important meeting on Wednesday, May 20th at 6 p.m. GPPA is opposed to the State Land Department’s request for precedent-setting commercial zoning on Scottsdale’s Scenic Drive. To be blunt, if this request is approved, it will eventually lead to the demise of the Scenic Drive and the residential/rural character of adjacent neighborhoods and the northern portion of Scottsdale Road. Look south on Scottsdale Road; what do you see? We have organized this meeting to provide an opportunity for you and other interested parties to learn about the issue and express your opinion.

Friends of the Scenic Drive LogoHelp us spread the word! Tell your friends and neighbors. Inaction will result in commercial development and the loss of property values. The GPPA-sponsored public meeting will be held at Florence Ely Nelson Desert Park (El Mirada Park), 8950 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale on May 20, 6 p.m. Please, reserve the date on your calendar now.

This meeting is an opportunity for you and your neighbors to learn and ask questions about proposals that will shape the character and future of north Scottsdale and the completion of the city’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve. How did the rezoning proposals come about? Who is responsible for making these proposals? Why are they being proposed? What does it mean to you and future residents? Are there alternatives to putting MORE commercial zoning on Scottsdale Road? Has anyone considered them?

GPPA, State Land Department, City of Scottsdale and McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission officials will make presentations on the issue and/or answer questions. A professional facilitator will encourage a free-and-open exchange of information between concerned residents and officials. We will also present information about the heritage of the Scenic Drive.

We are presenting the meeting as a community service. Admission is free, seating is limited, and advance registration is encouraged (helps GPPA plan, saves time, and guarantees seating).

Once again, thank you for your support. It is appreciated.

  Advance Registration
