 Watch art as it’s being created. More than 100 artists set up working studios at Celebration of Fine Art from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through March 26. Housed in the big white tents southwest of Hayden Road and the Loop 101, Celebration presents a variety of art in all styles – from traditional to contemporary. CelebrateArt.com

 Experience the music and culture of Arizona’s original residents at Native Trails. This free series takes place from noon to 1 p.m. most Thursdays and Saturdays through March 30 on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall. ExperienceScottsdale.com

 Sunday A’Fair outdoor concerts continue during March. Listen to the Valley’s top musicians and experience an arts-and-crafts market. The free afternoon events take place from noon to 4 p.m. most Sundays through April 2, on the Civic Center Mall. Bring a blanket and picnic basket, or buy food on-site.  The Boys of Summer are back this spring. Catch the San Francisco Giants in Cactus League action this March at award-winning Scottsdale Stadium. Tickets are available at the stadium box office, by calling 1-877-473-4849 or at sfgiants.com. ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “spring training”

 Enjoy the legends and lore of Scottsdale Spring Training. This March, the Civic Center Library and the Scottsdale Historical Museum host free exhibits about the teams, players and baseball legends that have called Scottsdale home during spring training. Both exhibits are a short stroll from Scottsdale Stadium and are part of the Cactus League Legacy Trail, a self-guided tour of locations rich in baseball folklore and history.  Scottsdale Water’s free water efficiency workshop series is in full bloom. Attend Scottsdale Water’s 2017 workshops and learn about water-efficient lawn care, leak detection, proper pruning and more from plant and irrigation experts. Classes are free and meet at the Granite Reef Senior Center, the Mustang Library and the Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden at Chaparral Park. ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “water workshops”

 Who says a job can’t be fun? Try lifeguarding this summer. Those 15 and older can take the StarGuard Lifeguard Training class to get certified in lifeguard rescues, basic first aid and CPR. Several sessions are available. ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “lifeguarding”

 Learn how to become a certified swim instructor. Two instruction sessions are available: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, March 6-10; and various times and days, March 20-April 3.  Green Building Lecture features water efficient products and treatment alternatives. Up to 65 percent of city-supplied potable water is used outdoors and 24 percent of indoor water is literally flushed down the toilet. Learn how to conserve at this free program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Granite Reef Senior Center. ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “green building”

 Native Spirit ArtWalk comes to Downtown Scottsdale. Celebrate Arizona’s indigenous cultures Thursday, March 2, as part of a special Scottsdale ArtWalk. This event takes place from 6:30 to 9: 30 p.m. and features a variety of impressive art, live entertainment and gallery receptions. Free trolley rides are available to transport folks from free parking areas to attractions throughout the Downtown. ScottsdaleGalleries.com.

 Protect your identity by attending “Shred It” event, March 4. Bring your personal and/or commercial documents to the “Shred It” event from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Wal-Mart parking lot, 15355 N. Northsight Blvd. A $3 per box donation is suggested. MyPosa.org

 Electronics Recycling Day is March 4. Rid your home of unneeded electronics at Scottsdale’s Electronics Recycling Collection Day. Accepted items include computer, office and entertainment equipment.  Catch a family-friendly “triple play” March 4. Celebrate the first Saturday in March with a trio of family-friendly events in Downtown Scottsdale. The Scottsdale Giant Race begins at 7 a.m. at Scottsdale Stadium.

That’s followed by the Scottsdale Public Library’s Ultimate Play Date from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the east side of the Civic Center Mall. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Scottsdale’s award-winning Spring Training Festival takes place on the west side of the mall, celebrating the start of the Cactus League and another season of America’s Pastime.  Dive into Saturday spring swim lessons, March 4-April 22. Participation in swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children through age 4. Lessons are offered at McDowell Mountain Ranch, Cactus and Eldorado aquatic centers.  ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “aquatics”

 Explore the unique Paris districts that inspired the Aimée Leduc book series. Join author Cara Black as she offers insights into her research process, being an outsider in France, and her new novel Murder on the Quai. The free program is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Civic Center Library, 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd. Books will be available for purchase and signing. ScottsdaleLibrary.org

 Scottsdale Arts Festival takes place March 10-12. Explore the works of nearly 200 nationally-acclaimed exhibiting artists at the  annual Scottsdale Arts Festival March 10-12 on Scottsdale’s Civic Center Mall.  Come on down … senior center hosts game show March 15. Be the next contestant on the Granite Reef Game Show at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March. 15, at the center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road.  Via Linda Senior Center hosts Spring Fling Dance, March 16. Live music and dance instruction will keep you moving at this event – from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda.  Fix a Leak Week is March 20-26. Leaky faucets can waste up to 10,000 gallons of water a year … enough to fill a backyard swimming pool.  Learn how to create a garden and landscape suitable for our desert environment. Attend a variety of workshops for Garden Week, March 27-April 1, at Scottsdale Public Libraries. ScottsdaleLibrary.org

 Spring into action with Parks and Recreation classes in March. Are you ready to try something new?  Scottsdale Parks and Recreation’s spring session offers everything from A(erobics) to Z(umba) and everything between.
