Summer Fun was on display and ENJOYED on Saturday, Sep. 6th at the Summit Diner. Paricipants in the 2014 Summer Fun photography and wrPiting contests, friends, family, and members of GPPA-Friends of the Scenic Drive, gathered to select the winner of the 2014 Diners’ Choice Award. Diners watched a Power Point presentation that included more than 80 photographs entered in the photography contest and then voted. The only rule was that voters could not vote for any of the photographs that had been selected by judges as contest winners. AND THE WINNER WAS … “Baby Javelina” by Tom Mangelsdorf.

Bob Cappel, President of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association, was the emcee for a short program that included drawing the winning ticket for a 50/50 raffle. Guests also enjoyed hearing Stephanie Bradley recite her poem “Saguaro.” The poem had been selected by judges as the winner of the writing contest.

GPPA and The Peak thank the Summit Diner, located at 32531 Scottsdale Road in The Summit shopping center, for hosting the event. All winning entries in the 2014 Summer Fun contests have been published in the September-October issue of The Peak and in the new A Peek at the Peak magazine online.  Proceeds from the evening will be used to support the Scenic Drive.
